In Greene County district court Cody Noel Roth, 38, of Woodward was sentenced May 26 to a term not to exceed 10 years in prison after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of theft- first degree. The prison term was suspended and he was placed on probation to the Iowa Department of Correctional Services for five years. However, he shall reside in a residential correctional facility until maximum benefits are attained. He was fined $1,370 with a $205.50 surcharge. He must pay victim restitution. Roth was sentenced to five years in prison with credit for time served on a charge of burglary- third degree. He was fined $1,025 with a $153.75 surcharge; the fine and surcharge were suspended. Sean Michael Allen Pollard, 37, of Paton was sentenced to 30 years in prison after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of ongoing criminal conduct- unlawful activity. The prison term was suspended and he was placed on probation to the Department of Correctional Services for five years. He shall undergo a substance abuse evaluation and reside in a residential treatment facility until he attains maximum benefits. He was fined $3,000 with a $450 surcharge. Pollard was sentenced to 15 years in prison on a charge of gathering where controlled substances are used; the prison term was suspended. He was fined $1,025 with a $153.75 surcharge; both were suspended. He was sentenced to two years in prison on a charge of prostitution. The prison term was suspended and he was placed on probation for two years. He was fined $855 with a $128.25 surcharge; both were suspended, but he must pay a $1,000 human trafficking surcharge. Alicia Marie Ofelt, 39, of Van Meter was sentenced to 30 days in jail, with credit for time served, after she changed her plea to guilty to a charge of possession of methamphetamine. She must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete all recommended treatment if she has not already done so. She was fined $430 with a $64.50 surcharge. The court found her unable to pay restitution for her court appointed attorney’s fees and court costs. A charge of possession of marijuana was dismissed. (Sentencing: Honorable Joseph B. McCarville)
Persons pleaded not guilty at arraignment as follows: Sebastian Ross Ramierz, 28, of Perry, murder- first degree and dominion/control of firearm/offensive weapon; and Ryan James Brown, 53, of Jefferson, driving while license barred. A trial date was set for Dec. 8 for Ramirez and July 21 for Brown.
